This is the world’s highest commercial bungee jump (from a fixed platform) ever set up.

Although it is only temporary, there are a number of amatuer jumpers who have had the chance to experience it.

An excerpt fro the press release
“AJ Hackett Bungy jump, in conjunction with Go Fast Sports, will be jumping from the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, Colorado from October 7-10, 2005. It will be a once in a lifetime experience as you bungee jump from 1053 feet over the roaring Arkansas River!”

A bungee jump like this offers the jumper over 10 seconds of freefall, and the chance to hit terminal velocity before the cord begins to stretch.

Measuring 760 feet (233 m) it is just a fraction taller than its Swiss rival and our current #3 on this list, the drop from the Macau Tower definitely isn’t to be sneered at.

There is nothing but city concrete directly below.

When you’ve thrown yourself off the platform and into the great abyss, you;ll hear nothing but the wind rushing past your ears. Concerns of the city noise and traffic will likely dissapear for 10 seconds of freefall or so.

In 2006, bungee jumping guru A J Hackett launched what the Guinness Book of Records recognised as the highest commercial bungee jump in the world, performing the leap himself from the same spot as his ’skyjump’, which was opened the year before.

The Verzasca Dam is designated the world’s largest off-ground bungee jump.

Featured on Jack Osbornes Adrenaline Junkie, it is a daring leap that not all particpants dared complete.

This bungee was also featured in the opening sequence of the Bond movie Goldeneye. The Verzasca dam offers a pure freefall swinging bungee from a single cord, similar to the one that swings you down from the Bloukrans Bridge.

Word is that this jump is made without guide ropes, but jump masters are there to ensure you’re safe as you hurtle towards the base of this colossal concrete structure.

The Bloukrans Bridge is the world’s highest single span arch bridge. Primarily used as a road bridge, but for those who dare, it can also be used as an adrenaline structure! When it opened in 1997 it was highest commercially operated bungee on earth. But now as you will see, it has been greatly surpassed.

Jumpers are led across a custom designed catwalk that hangs underneath the N2 national route road surface, taking you to the top of the arch. There is no time to think, the jump guides give you a final countdown, and it’s out into the great blue yonder. Surrounded by amazing scenery, it is any wonder people travel from all over the world to experience this jump.

This bungee utlizes a pendulum system, which apparently gives jumpers “the smoothest, most comfortable bungy jump possible.

Bungee jumpers leap from the Brenner Autobahn that links Austria and Italy across the Alps.

The scenery at this location could not be more beautiful, and the jump is no joke. At 630 feet you wiill experience over 10 seconds of freefall to the valley below.

The worst part is the time it takes between the ropes being tied securely around your ankles and when you stand up to approach the platform.

You are best off to take a quick look at the alpine panorama around you and then a jump as quickly as possible. Hesitating will only make things worse. Facing the Wipp valley as it rushes towards you will provide all the adrenaline you need to justify this crazy act. Best experience ever!

The highest bungee jump in the world from a suspension bridge.

As it sways with each step I can only imagine how scary it must be just walking out there, long before you even jump!

Plunging toward the earth, you are surrounded by beautiful scenery and quite possibly, you may have a chance to see some of it.

The reality is, that the freefall alone will consume your thoughts, and before you know it, the cord will catch and you will be bouncing back toward the tower. Thankfully it is at that point that you breathe again and everything in the world seems a-okay.

Don’t be decieved by the name, this is one massive jump. Thrill seekers take on the challenge of jumping off the longest Nepalese suspension bridge across one of the scariest tropical gorges, with the Bhote Kosi River rumbling below.

This brings all new meaning to RESORT, and it is an experience you will never forget. Lucky number 7 may be the only thing you can think of as you jump 525 FEET from the 7th highest bungee in the world!

The last resort nepal located above bhote koshi river is absolutely the finest place for bungee jumping if you are planning to travel in budget.

Nepal also hosts various adventure sports that are available in dirty cheap prices.

  2. Jai says:

Hmmm. Well What comes to mind are several tinhgs. People who do extreme sports are a little bit of adrenaline junkies and what they are doing is not necessarily considered safe. For example, look at it this way. Skydivers are jumping out of perfectly safe airplanes. Hang-gliders off of perfectly safe mountaintops and some people strap anything they can to themselves and jump off of buildings or bridges instead of taking the stairs down or driving. So take the dive, make a splash, test your endurance to terror and your trust in Thai-made elastic bands and chalk this experience up to “Things I did while drunk in Koh Samui!”Really Don’t be afraid, Visa is accepted at the hospitals here

  3. Lise says:

If you travel to pokarha, you will also get to do paragliding, which is becoming very popular these days. Next time you should try it when you. And, BTW, hope you are aware it is year.

I did the jump at Victoria Falls and loved it. I am an adrenaline junkie and will do it again. When I did the jump at Victoria Falls it was 193m. The length of the cable is shortened in the rainy season as the water level will be high. So technically the position of the Victoria Falls Bridge changes.
